Belgian Hand Therapists
When you want to become a hand therapist, you must have a bachelor or master degree in occupational or physical therapy and follow a specialized education in hand therapy.
When a patient had and injury, surgery or disease of the upper extremity, he can call upon the expertise of a hand therapist to regain his maximum functionality.
Treatment by a hand therapist is reached by using all kinds of techniques during the therapy and they apply different sorts of modalities. You get as well several specific exercises and he teaches you a proper hand function.
A hand therapist also has the ‘know how’ of wearing or using a splint.

As of July 1st, 2026, all new registrations and renewals will be considered memberships for 2027.
Important: If you wish to become a Dedicated Member (this includes the Standard Membership plus the Scientific B.A.H.T. Journal), you must indicate this no later than December 28, 2025. Any requests received after this date will automatically be processed as Standard Memberships.
Once you have achieved the Basic Hand Therapist level, your name will be published on our website.
