Hi, I’m Caroline Meulyzer. Since early 2020, I’ve been serving as International Delegate and Treasurer for the Belgian Hand Therapists.

I’ve been working at University Hospitals Leuven since 2011, where I’m involved in hand therapy consultations in hand orthopedics and traumatology, as well as in the burn center.

My main clinical interests include the burned hand, Dupuytren’s disease, and severe hand trauma. I’m particularly drawn to the complex and phased treatment these conditions require. My research activities focus on Dupuytren’s disease. Alongside my commitment to BHT and the hospital, I’m active as an organizer of the ‘Postacademische Vorming Handrevalidatie’ at KU Leuven.

And yes, my passion for hand therapy is real, I happily travel 100 km from faraway West Flanders for work that’s so close to my heart. I’m truly grateful that my role on the board allows me to help strengthen collaboration, professional practice, and education in hand rehabilitation across Europe.
